Grooming

Grooming is more than an attractive hairdo. It's a matter of health and hygiene. Regular, professional grooming can help prevent problems such as excessive shedding, skin and paw disorders, painful mats and periodontal disease, as well as help you catch other problems that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Having your pet groomed is not only pleasing to the senses, it is also beneficial to his (or her) general health and well-being.

A complete grooming includes nail trimming, ear cleaning and gland expression as needed. A pre-cut or brushing, bathing with a conditioning shampoo and thorough drying allows our groomers to inspect your pet's body to detect any problem areas as well.

Our groomer, Kristie Ekstrom's clients make no bones about showing their appreciation. Kristie's love for animals has been evident from the time she was a tot growing up on a nearby farm. From little on, she took every opportunity to help the vet when he'd visit and believed one day she'd be a vet herself. Today, she considers herself lucky to be in the career she choose as a groomer saying, "Not everyone gets to play with pets at their job."

Before joining Minnesota Veterinary Associates, Kristie was the Grooming Salon Manager at PetSmart. She brings with her eight years of grooming experience along with a bubbly, gentle and caring personality, proven to win over any pet.

When she's not "playing" at work, her favorite past times include softball, spending time with her dog and two cats, spreading cheer (she has an infectious laugh).

Kristie is familiar with most standard breed cuts and are able to make modifications to suit your pet's lifestyle or keep in "show" shape.
